It’s a great commercial IMO. Being a Toyota enthusiast I expect a bit more out of my OLDER Toyota’s than just ride quality. Toyota is building softer vehicles as the days & consumer demands go by & w/ less quality, FACT

Funny thing is, pansy ass city folks want the look & performance of a hard core 4WD but bitch & complain about the ride, not enough cup holders or enough zones for the climate control

I’m confused & like WTF? But Toyota sells them soft roaders anyway

    Consumers bring the funny

Well, for every Land Cruiser they sell, they probably crank out 100 Highlanders and RAVs. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. In the real world, “soft roaders” are more useful than dedicated, all-out offroaders anyway. Really funny video, though.

I wasn’t being rude – just stating what I believe to be fact.
As for Merc 4WD owners.. I kid you not. I have a mate who works for Mercedes and they got a brand new top of the range 4WD sent back to them on a tow truck, cause the owner tried to drive it thru a deep river and hydraulicly locked the engine, bent every conrod – totally fucked it – Guy had balls.. but was a complete idiot! no snorkel, and kept trying to start it with a gutload of water in the engine! – car had 60km on the Odometer.

you don’t have to be rude, most of them are joy coz they work hell well when you go off road. But when people buy the Mercedes 4WD you no they are dumb coz they are only there to look good…..

I would never own a new car – why spend 40-90 k on a car, when you can achieve more in something for an 1/8th of the price and not have to worry about it!
if you want safety, technology.. shiny – spend your cash on some over priced plastic shit that depreciates in value by a third, or falls apart after a year or 2.

REAL offroading – requires more than big rubber and air lockers. and no amount of wax will save you from a big ass dent from a boulder when your almost tipped over in a ditch lol

talk to me about what I know about other drivers when you have spent years on the road on a motorcycle.
I stand by my claim. You can pick what kind of driver someone is a mile away. habits, car type, and road conditions. I don’t have to assume, I know. simple as that. its an instinct you develop after dealing with morons on our roads every day.

Mate, If you ever owned a new car ( you would care about scratches too!!
Scratches will cause the 4wd to rust to set in faster, ruining your 4wd!!

Also, my 4wd has modified… bigger hardcore rubber, and front and back air lockers!! I’ll take it anywhere!! And once my warranty expires, I’ll be getting port-axles fitted in!! Can’t go much hard core then that, and make it still road legal!!

Nah, you are full of shit!!
Your “I know exactly what kind of driver is behind the wheel of any car when you are observing them. ” statement proves this!! I guess every time you make a quick assumption about someone, your receive the person’s full history on file, to verify your claim?! Otherwise your are just pulling your own knob, making assumptions about people!!

    Posted March 10, 2010 at 10:02 am | Permalink

but I guess in hind sight – the real kind of offroading I’m thinking about is a bit more extreme – and probably requires a purpose built 4wd lol. Offroad to me – is not a DIRT ROAD – thats still a road. its more of a track and its not off roading unless at least once the thought of “ohh I dunno if we’ll get thru this” crosses your mind, and you get water rolling in thru the windows.

yeah nah – your full of shit.
I know exactly what kind of driver is behind the wheel of any car when you are observing them.
I was talking specifically about 4wd’s due to the context of this video, but its the same everywhere, even bikers!

Sounds like you are in between a soft roader and someone who likes to get down n dirty and not care about the wee little scratches. the real kind of offroading.

thats what happens when you buy a big gleaming shiny new 4wd with about 1ft ground clearance.

Only a retard would’nt worry about his car getting scratched from offroading!Scratches invite rust, and decrease the vehicle value… I have fair bit of scars on my 1 year old 4wd but that doesn’t mean i don’t try to minimize them any further!

Mate your assumptions about 4wd drivers is simply stupid, and when your on a roadbike, even a barina is a death cage to you!

Also just because someone uses it to drop of kids at school, don’t assume they all don’t use it offroad/ touring on the weekend!

only retards buy something for offroading – then worry about it being scratched….

I don’t assume who’s behind the wheel when I’m on a road bike – I know exactly what kind of fuckwit is bumping along without a care in the world behind the wheel of a 2tonne death cage.

This vid is about the fraudsters, not the real enthusiasts who know their vehicle, not dumb pricks mowing down pedestrians/bikers on the way to drop the kids off at school and appear rich n glam cause their shit is shinier
